EMAS goes BIG

WaisMed manufacturer of BIG (Bone Injection Gun) wish to congratulate the East Midlands Ambulance Service on being the first major UK ambulance service to adopt B.I.G as their Intraosseous Device of choice.

Alan Marwood, E.M.A.S Response Operations Manager, said:

“We’ve equipped our entire emergency response fleet with adult and paediatric Bone Injection Guns after carefully assessing the devices in current use and those that were new to the market. The device we were using was restricted to paediatrics but the BIG offers flexibility across the entire range of patients seen, at a price comparable to the previous device.

Training is very simple and we have had excellent support from both the manufacturer and the UK distributor, Data Southern Enterprises. The device has been well accepted by our staff, BASICS, air ambulance and hospital colleagues, many of who are now equipped with BIG’s.

Since being deployed, the BIG has proved invaluable in providing a rapid access for drugs and fluids that would have been unobtainable in some patients previously.”

With our approval a training course has been established with E.M.A.S. for the BIG
