The Vet B.I.G. as the preferred alternative to IV access:
Gaining access to a veterinary patient’s systemic circulation can be challenging. Intravenous (IV) route is the most common practice; however, in certain circumstances, establishing an IV line and creating safe and reliable access to a veterinary patient’s circulation can be extremely difficult or even impossible.
Severe tissue damage resulting from burns, traumatic wounds, peripheral vascular disorders, or chronic sickness involving compromised hemodynamics, edemas, cardiac and liver disease, collapsed peripheral veins, renal insufficiency, and Neoplasias may require an alternative route for fast, safe, reliable, and effective access to a veterinary patient’s systemic circulation. The Vet B.I.G. uses the Intraosseous (IO) route for fluid and drug administration and has been established as a safe and effective alternative to standard IV infusion.
